When your mind will not switch off at night

Why thoughts get louder in the evening, and why a small pause often helps more than another resolution.

At the window in Café Purla: a worry written down, drifting out over the city at night.

During the day there are meetings, messages and things that want doing. When the evening gets quieter, everything left over finally has room. Your mind then tries to sort all of it at once.

You do not have to finish every thought before you are allowed to sleep.

A pause is not giving up

A thought on paper is not solved. But it does not have to keep circling either. Write one sentence, name what is heavy right now, and decide tomorrow whether it needs a next step.

Sometimes something very small helps: dim the light, put the phone down, get a glass of water or stand at the window for two minutes. Not as a new program, just as a friendly interruption.

What is allowed to be enough today

Café Purla is made for exactly those interruptions. Let a thought go, keep a good moment or just sit for a while. There is nothing to catch up on.
